Really, we’re open…

We’ve just been busy with life, school, and cats!

Slow start, but we’ll be back to it all soon (we hope)!

We Are Open!

I've just uploaded the first four items to our Etsy store. More will be uploaded as soon as Mr. High Standards gives me photos.

Product Photos

Most people have no idea what you have to go through to make good jewelry photos for online selling. You have to have the right lighting, a camera that can macro, grey/blue/red backdrop, and photoshop skills. Even when it all goes well, each pic takes from 15-30 minutes a pop.

Sherri says, "They don't have to be perfect."

To which I reply, "Trust me, these are nothing close."

My digital prepress teacher would kick my butt and fail me if I turned these things in to her... but they're good enough for web.

"perfect" is subjective to your point of view -- I just happen to come from a much higher graphics elevation.

Building on the Web

It is always surprising to me how long it takes to build supposed "easy" sites from the automated systems online -- blogger, etsy, register.com. They all offer templates and quick start systems, but if you have definite ideas what you want for a site/look, fighting the automatic systems and widgets in order to get what you want is a pain in the @#*$.

Suffice to say, none of the sites are what I wanted, but I don't have the funds or time to customer build this stuff.
